Dr. Mohammad Rahimi

Dr. Mohammad J. Rahimi is an Afghan-American civil rights advocate serving as the Executive
Director of Afghan Family Services. He holds a Ph.D. in leadership from Alliant International
University in San Diego. He earned his master degree in Public Administration at McGeorge
School of Law in Sacramento. In addition, he earned his LL.M. (master of law) in U.S. law and
policy from McGeorge School of Law. During his LL.M. studies, he interned at the California
State Assembly, where he advanced his knowledge of policy and legislation.
During his Ph.D. studies, Dr. Rahimi served as a Virtual Student Federal Service Intern at the
U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs. His
work on the historic 20-year analysis of the Afghanistan Lessons Learned Project was a
significant achievement, leading to him being awarded the State Department Intern of the Year
(2023).
Dr. Rahimi has strong community ties and extensive relationships with elected officials,
community leaders, and organizations. He served diverse communities and worked with
organizations such as CAIR-SD, Jewish Family Services of San Diego, and Next Move in
Sacramento County.
Dr. Rahimi is passionate and dedicated to protecting justice, promoting diversity, and serving all Americans regardless of color, faith, gender, and race.
Before immigrating to the United States, Dr. Rahimi worked as an Attorney for the U.S. Army. He is also a lover of nature, enjoying hiking, and a fan of sports, particularly tennis. His diverse interests also extend to music, with a particular fondness for Spanish tunes.
